Today I stumbled upon an interesting photo post in Linkedin - the so called professional network platform primarily for the organised corporate sector. The post author has posted an photo where he is seen taking an award sort of thing on stage from his employing organization.

The image posted - edited by masking the real people

He seems to be overwhelmed with this moment and considers it to be his one of the most successful moment in his career. And that's why he is sharing with the whole world. Ok sounds cool! Everyone does it these days. He is no different. It's better to post on your linkedin wall which is basically a running resume and running commentary of your professional well being! Point is taken!

But what is so amusing about this photo is - he is in his regular expected business and professional attire whereas the man handing over the award is in very casual attire including shorts! And that too seemingly on a stage or podium - must be facing some hall full of audience or may be the cameras recording live! Both are in their own comfy zone and notably in " proud zone"!

If the award giver is the employer ( and most probably is), he doesnt give a damn to what he is wearing or how he is appearing in a professional set up. But the awardee is proud to receive the award in his "uniform"! This image hit me with the fundamental truth of the world - the equation of the "owner/employer " and the "employee/manager". This employee is happy remaining an employee. The owner is happy remaining the owner! They hardly cross the line and the territory is well delineated! Probably the employee here never realized this truth! No matter how memorable this event might be for him he is still far away from the owner's territory.

Well, here the award giver can be a guest of honor also - may not be the employer - but still he belongs to the " owner class"! This owner class is defined by this casual dress code on stage. ( I'm ofcourse ruling out the rookie coders and techies who think of themselves more like rockstars than professionals). The owner class is like this only - if not always so directly casual but from within devoid of all such need to wear "uniform and accessories"!.

I would rather like to take a glass of whiskey from this award giver and let him take out a cigar stick from my packet! And could have celebrated together. Ha ha ha! Just a reverie! ;)
